You Don’t Need to Be an Expert

A devotional for Thursday

Acts 1:8
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses…”

Jesus didn’t tell His followers to become experts. He told them to be witnesses. That’s a big difference. A witness simply shares what they’ve seen and experienced. You don’t need all the answers to tell your story. You don’t need perfect theology or the right words. You just need honesty. The Holy Spirit is the one who brings power, not your ability. This is freeing, because it shifts the pressure off of us. Our role is to be available and willing. To speak when prompted. To share what God has done in our lives. To live in a way that reflects His work in us. As we do, the Spirit works through us in ways we may not even see or understand. You never know how your story might impact someone else.

Question/Challenge:
What is one simple way you can share what God has done in your life with someone this week?
