Who Do You Say God Is?

A devotional for FridayScripture “But who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:15 (NLT) Reflection Jesus’ question to the disciples cuts through avoidance and secondhand answers. It’s easy to talk about what others believe or what we were taught growing up. But Jesus presses for a personal response. Peter’s confession did not come from public opinion or borrowed theology; it came from revelation and relationship. What we believe about God shapes everything: our priorities, our trust, our obedience, and our hope. If God is gracious, we live differently than if God is harsh. If God is present, we suffer differently than if God is distant. Jesus makes it clear that the church is built not on clever ideas, but on revealed truth. This question is not meant to trap us; it is meant to invite us into clarity. Our lives eventually answer the question even if our words don’t. How we live reveals who we believe God truly is.
