When Do You Feel Closest to God?

A devotional for Monday

James 1:22
"Do what God's word says. Don't merely listen to it..."

Ask ten people when they feel closest to God, and you'll probably get ten different answers. Some experience Him most deeply during quiet moments in Scripture. Others encounter Him while serving someone in need. Some feel His presence during worship. Others while praying with a friend or visiting someone who is hurting. These experiences may look different, but they have something in common: they are all opportunities to encounter God's grace. James reminds us that hearing God's Word is only part of the journey. Our faith comes alive when what we receive begins to shape how we live. God meets us in both the quiet places and the active ones. We don't have to choose between loving God and loving people. We are invited into both.

Question/Challenge:
Where do you most naturally experience God, and where might He be inviting you to grow?
