What's Growing in You?

A devotional for Wednesday

Galatians 5:22-23
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

One way to examine our spiritual lives is simply to ask what kind of fruit we're producing. Is there more love in us than there used to be? More joy? More peace and patience? Are kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control becoming increasingly evident in the way we live? The fruit of the Spirit isn't a checklist we accomplish through sheer willpower. It's evidence of the Holy Spirit transforming us from within. That also means the places where we're struggling can reveal places God still wants to transform. Instead of hiding those areas or becoming ashamed of them, we can bring them honestly before Him. Holiness isn't about pretending we've arrived. It's continually surrendering more of ourselves to God so He can make us more like Jesus. As we remain connected to Him, His character increasingly becomes visible through ours.

Question/Challenge:
Which fruit of the Spirit is God inviting you to let Him grow more deeply in your life?
