Trust the God Who Calls

A devotional for Thursday

"But you, O LORD my God, snatched me from the jaws of death! As my life was slipping away, I remembered the LORD."
Jonah 2:6b-7a (NLT)

Jonah's prayer reminds us that our confidence doesn't come from our own strength. It comes from God's faithfulness. Even after Jonah ran away, God didn't abandon him. Instead, God rescued him, listened to his prayer, and gave him another opportunity to obey. That's the kind of God we serve. He isn't looking for perfect people; He's looking for willing hearts. We all have moments when we feel unqualified, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what lies ahead. Yet God has never asked us to depend on ourselves. He simply asks us to trust Him. When God calls us into something bigger than ourselves, it's because He intends to provide the strength we don't have. His calling is always accompanied by His presence. Whatever He asks of you today, remember that the same God who called Jonah is walking beside you as well.
