Today Still Matters

A devotional for TuesdayScripture: Psalm 95:7 “If only you would listen to his voice today!” Reflection: Scripture often confronts us with a sense of urgency we’d rather avoid. “Today” interrupts our instinct to delay spiritual attention. We tell ourselves we’ll listen once life slows down, once the season changes, once we feel better equipped. But Psalm 95 refuses to let obedience wait. God speaks in the present tense because transformation happens there. Yesterday’s faith cannot sustain today’s thirst. Tomorrow’s intentions cannot soften today’s heart. Lent reminds us that spiritual drift doesn’t come from rebellion but from postponement. Every day we either remain attentive or slowly grow indifferent. Listening to God today doesn’t require having everything figured out. It simply asks for availability, humility, and openness. God’s voice is often quiet, but it is persistent. The longer we ignore it, the easier it becomes to tune it out. “Today” is not pressure...it’s grace. Question/Challenge: What is one way you’ve been postponing your response to God, and what would it look like to say yes today instead?
