There’s Room for Them

A devotional for Monday

“Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.”
Luke 14:21 (NLT)

Jesus consistently made room for people others overlooked. In His culture, sharing a meal wasn’t simply about eating together; it communicated acceptance, relationship, and belonging. That makes Jesus’ tables incredibly significant. He ate with sinners, outcasts, and people the religious world had pushed aside. His invitation made a statement: there is room for them here. We can easily begin creating our own guest lists of people we think belong (or don’t belong) in the Kingdom of God. We gravitate toward people who look like us, think like us, or make us comfortable. But grace was never ours to ration. We were welcomed because of Jesus, not because we earned our seat. And once we understand that, it changes how we see everyone around us. The Kingdom table keeps getting bigger, and Jesus invites us to help make room.
