The Way of Jesus Requires Surrender

A devotional for Friday

Acts 9:18
“Then he got up and was baptized.”

Saul’s baptism represented more than a religious moment. It symbolized surrender. His old life, old direction, and old identity no longer defined him. He stepped into a new life shaped by Jesus.

Following Jesus always leads us to a crossroads between our way and His way. Our way clings to control, pride, comfort, and self-sufficiency. The way of Jesus calls us toward surrender, trust, humility, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.

Surrender is difficult because we often want Jesus to improve our plans rather than completely redirect them. But real transformation begins when we stop asking God to bless our version of life and instead trust Him with everything we are.

The invitation of Acts 9 is not simply to admire Saul’s story. It is to let Jesus transform ours too.

Question/Challenge:
What is one area of your life that you need to fully surrender to Jesus right now?
