The Spirit Is Already Moving

A devotional for Thursday

Acts 11:17
“Who was I to stand in God’s way?”

Peter arrived and realized something surprising: God got there first. The Spirit had already been moving in Cornelius’s life before Peter ever spoke. That changes how we think about people. We often assume we bring God into situations. But Acts reminds us that God is already at work. Our role is not ownership; it’s participation. We don’t control who God reaches. We don’t decide who receives grace. We stay attentive. We listen. We respond. Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is recognize that God is writing stories we didn’t expect. Peter didn’t manufacture transformation. He witnessed it. That same invitation remains today.
