The Lion of Judah

A devotional for Thursday

"The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den...for he had trusted in his God."
Daniel 6:23 (NLT)

Daniel's story points us to Someone even greater. Like Daniel, Jesus was falsely accused. Like Daniel, He stood before corrupt leaders. Like Daniel, He was sealed behind a stone. But unlike Daniel, Jesus didn't simply survive death; He defeated it forever! Because Jesus rose from the grave, we no longer have to live in fear of whatever threatens us. Scripture calls Jesus the Lion of Judah, reminding us that the greatest Lion has authority over every lesser one. Fear may roar loudly, but it does not reign. The One who conquered sin and death now walks with His people through every trial. When we place our trust in Christ, we discover that no lion is greater than our Savior. The Lion of Judah has already won the victory.
