The Invitation Comes First

A devotional for Tuesday
Romans 10:8
"The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart."
Think about receiving an invitation. Before you ever respond, someone has already planned, prepared, and sent it. The invitation exists because someone wants you there. The Gospel works much the same way. Before we ever seek God, God is already reaching toward us. Before we understand everything, God is already inviting us. Before we are aware of His work, He is already present. This is one of the beautiful truths of grace. We often think faith begins when we decide to follow Jesus. But Scripture reminds us that God is always the first mover. He is constantly extending invitations into relationship. Every prompting, conviction, curiosity, and longing for something more may be evidence of God drawing us closer. Our role is simply to respond.
Question/Challenge:
How have you seen God's invitation at work in your life before you even recognized it?
