The Choice Before Us

A devotional for Monday

Deuteronomy 30:19
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life…”

God places a remarkable amount of responsibility and freedom in our hands. In Deuteronomy, Moses reminds the people that their future will be shaped by the choices they make. God doesn’t force them toward life; instead, He invites them to choose it. This invitation shows us something important about God’s heart. He desires life, blessing, and flourishing for His people. Yet the path to that life involves intentional decisions. Every day we are faced with small moments that move us toward life or toward something less. Sometimes those choices are obvious, but many times they are subtle. They appear in our attitudes, priorities, and responses to the people around us. The direction of our lives is often determined not by one dramatic decision, but by hundreds of small ones. Over time, these choices shape our character and our future. God’s invitation is still the same today as it was for Israel long ago. Choose life. Choose the path that leads closer to Him and to the life He created you to live.

Question/Challenge:
What is one decision you can make today that moves you toward the life God desires for you?
