Rest Is Still Available

A devotional for FridayScripture: Hebrews 4:1 “God’s promise of entering his rest still stands.” Reflection: One of the most hopeful truths of Lent is that failure does not cancel God’s promises. Israel missed rest, but the invitation remained open. God’s rest is not earned through perfection; it is received through trust. The wilderness was not meant to destroy them; it was meant to shape them. In the same way, Lent is not about self-improvement but surrender. We are invited to lay down striving and kneel in dependence. Rest comes when we stop trying to control outcomes and start trusting God’s presence. Jesus is the Rock who was struck so living water could flow. Where doubt once questioned God’s nearness, the cross answers decisively. God is with us, even in the ashes. Rest begins when we believe that truth deeply. Lent teaches us to keep walking toward promise, not back toward fear. Question/Challenge: What would it look like for you to move toward God’s rest this week instead of retreating to familiar but unhelpful patterns?
