Relationship, Not Routine

Published February 8, 2026

A devotional for FridayScripture: “For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son…” Romans 5:10a Reflection: Reconciliation is about restored relationship, not religious routine. God did not just cancel debt; He rebuilt connection. Romans 5 shows us that salvation is deeply relational. We were not simply forgiven—we were brought back. When faith becomes routine, intimacy fades. We may maintain proximity to God without engaging Him personally. But reconciliation means hostility is gone, and access is open. God is not distant, disappointed, or disengaged. He invites conversation, trust, and nearness. Routine can keep us busy without making us connected. Relationship requires presence, honesty, and responsiveness. God desires our hearts, not just our habits. When we remember we are reconciled, prayer becomes dialogue instead of duty. Worship becomes affection, not obligation. Faith becomes a lived relationship, not a checklist. This is the life Romans 5 invites us into. Question/Challenge: Where has your faith slipped into routine instead of relationship, and what would it look like to re-engage God personally this week?
