Presence Before Preaching

A devotional for Thursday

John 3:17
"God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

People rarely care what we know until they know we care. Jesus understood this. He spent time with people before He corrected them. He listened before He taught. He shared meals before He challenged hearts. He was present. In a culture filled with arguments and opinions, genuine presence stands out. Many people have heard what Christians believe. What they're waiting to see is whether Christians love like Jesus. The Gospel is not simply information to be delivered. It's a life to be embodied. When we show up for people, listen well, serve faithfully, and love consistently, we earn the right to speak into their lives. Presence often opens doors that preaching alone cannot.

Question/Challenge:
Who needs your presence more than your advice right now?
