A devotional for Thursday
Deuteronomy 30:20
“You can make this choice by loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him.”
Choosing life is not simply about avoiding the wrong path. It is about actively leaning into a relationship with God. Moses describes this life in three ways: loving God, obeying Him, and committing ourselves firmly to Him. These three actions are deeply connected. Love for God leads us to listen to Him. Listening leads to obedience. Over time, obedience forms a deep and lasting commitment. Many people want the benefits of faith without the depth of commitment that sustains it. But abundant life grows out of a relationship that is intentional and enduring. It involves allowing God to shape our decisions, priorities, and direction. This kind of commitment is not about perfection. Instead, it is about consistently returning to God with our whole hearts. Each time we choose to trust Him again, our relationship with Him grows stronger. In that relationship we discover the life He has always intended for us.
Question/Challenge:
Which of these areas (loving God, obeying Him, or committing yourself fully to Him) needs the most attention in your life right now?
