God’s Word Is Closer Than You Think

A devotional for Tuesday

Deuteronomy 30:14
“No, the message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart so that you can obey it.”

Sometimes we imagine that following God is complicated or out of reach. We might feel like we need more knowledge, more spiritual experience, or clearer signs before we can truly obey Him. Yet Moses tells the people that God’s word is not distant or unreachable. It is already close. God has made His will known, and His Spirit works within us to guide us. The challenge is rarely a lack of access to truth. Instead, the challenge is our willingness to respond to what we already know. We often recognize the right path before we take it. God’s voice may come through Scripture, conviction, wise counsel, or a quiet prompting in our hearts. The invitation is simple: listen and respond. Obedience does not require perfection; it requires openness and trust. When we choose to follow what God has already revealed, we begin to experience the life He promises. Step by step, obedience draws us closer to the abundant life Jesus described.
