God Uses Ordinary People

God Uses Ordinary People

A devotional for Wednesday

Acts 9:17
“So Ananias went and found Saul.”

Ananias is one of the most overlooked people in this story, but his obedience mattered deeply. God asked him to go minister to the very person known for persecuting Christians. Everything about the request sounded dangerous and uncomfortable.

Yet Ananias went.

Sometimes we assume God only works through highly qualified, fearless, or extraordinary people. But throughout Scripture, God repeatedly works through ordinary people who are simply willing to obey. Ananias did not need all the answers before taking the next step. He only needed to trust God enough to go.

There may be people in your life who feel difficult to love, impossible to forgive, or intimidating to approach. Yet God often does His greatest work through simple acts of obedience and compassion.

The kingdom of God moves forward when ordinary people say yes to difficult assignments.

Question/Challenge:
Who might God be asking you to encourage, forgive, serve, or reach out to this week?
