God Is Already There

A devotional for Friday

Acts 17:27-28

One of the most encouraging truths about sharing our faith is realizing we never bring God somewhere He hasn't already been. God is already at work in your neighborhood. He's already at work in your workplace. He's already at work in your family. He's already at work in the lives of people who don't yet know Him. This is what we mean when we talk about prevenient grace; God's grace going ahead of us, preparing hearts and creating opportunities. We don't start from scratch. We join what God is already doing. That takes pressure off our shoulders. We aren't responsible for changing hearts. God does that. We simply pay attention, follow the Spirit's leading, and faithfully participate. The invitation is not to manufacture God's work but to notice it and join it.
