God Is Already in the Den

A devotional for Wednesday

"My God sent his angel to shut the lions' mouths so that they would not hurt me...Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God."
Daniel 6:22-23 (NLT)

Daniel entered the lions' den expecting lions. What he discovered was that God had arrived first. That's one of the most comforting truths in Scripture. God doesn't promise we'll never enter frightening places, but He does promise we'll never enter them alone. Sometimes we ask God to remove every difficult circumstance from our lives. Instead, He often chooses to meet us in the middle of them. His presence becomes our peace. His strength becomes our courage. The lions were still there, but they no longer had the final say. Whatever "den" you're walking through today, whether it's illness, anxiety, broken relationships, financial uncertainty, or grief, remember that God is already there. The place you fear most is never beyond His reach.
