God Does the Growing

A devotional for Wednesday

Mark 4:27
"The seed sprouts and grows, but he does not understand how it happens."

This may be one of the most freeing truths Jesus ever shared. The farmer plants the seed... and then he sleeps. He doesn't stand over the soil all night trying to force it to grow. He trusts the process. Sometimes we carry the weight of believing someone else's spiritual growth depends entirely on us. It doesn't. Our responsibility is faithfulness. God's responsibility is transformation. We plant. We pray. We love. We invite. We encourage. Then we trust God to do what only He can do. That doesn't make our role unimportant, it makes God's role unmistakable. The miracle has always belonged to Him.
