From “Hosanna” to Silence

A devotional for Tuesday
Matthew 21:9
“Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!”
The same voices that shouted “Hosanna” would soon grow quiet. Some would even turn away completely. In one moment, the crowd was full of praise and excitement. In the next, many of them struggled to follow Jesus when His path didn’t match their expectations. It’s easy to get caught up in a moment. It’s easier to praise Jesus when the atmosphere is right, when the music is strong, when everyone around you is doing the same. But real faith isn’t built on moments; it’s built on commitment. The question isn’t whether we can praise Jesus when it feels natural. The question is whether we will stay with Him when it feels costly, confusing, or uncomfortable. Following Jesus requires more than enthusiasm. It requires endurance. It requires trust that continues beyond the high moments and into the ordinary and the difficult.
Question/Challenge:
What does your faith look like when the moment of excitement fades?
