From Desire to Pilgrimage

A devotional for Tuesday

Scripture:
Psalm 84:5
“What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, who have set their minds on a pilgrimage.”

Reflection:
Longing alone does not carry us forward; movement does. The psalm shifts from desire to direction, from feeling to intention. A pilgrimage is not accidental; it is chosen. It requires deciding where your life is headed. Spiritual growth rarely happens by drifting. The pilgrims in Psalm 84 set their minds toward God, even when the road led through valleys. Faith is not the absence of difficulty but commitment in the midst of it. Pilgrimage means continuing to walk even when motivation fades. It means trusting that God meets us along the way. Strength comes not from the absence of hardship but from reliance on Him. God does not wait only at the destination; He sustains us throughout the journey. The path itself becomes formative.

Question/Challenge:
Are you intentionally pursuing God, or hoping closeness happens without movement?
