Fixing Our Eyes on the Life God Promises

A devotional for Friday

John 10:10
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

Jesus describes two very different directions our lives can take. One path leads toward loss, destruction, and emptiness. The other leads toward abundant life. Sometimes the difference between those two paths comes down to where we focus our attention. In a world full of distractions, it is easy to lose sight of the life God promises. The pressures of work, relationships, and daily responsibilities can pull our focus in countless directions. We can become captivated by what feels urgent or appealing in the moment. Yet these short-term distractions often pull us away from the life we truly desire. Jesus invites us to lift our eyes again. When we keep our focus on Him, our decisions begin to shift. We start prioritizing what truly matters. Over time, our lives become more aligned with God’s purposes and promises. The abundant life Jesus offers is not something we stumble into by accident. It grows as we intentionally keep our eyes fixed on Him and choose life again and again.

Question/Challenge:
What is one distraction that may be pulling your attention away from the life Jesus wants for you?
