Faithfulness Before the Lions

A devotional for Monday

"Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers. Because of Daniel's great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire... He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy."
Daniel 6:3-4 (NLT)

Daniel's greatest testimony wasn't surviving the lions' den. It was the life he lived before he ever entered it. His enemies searched for something to accuse him of, but the only fault they could find was his unwavering commitment to God. That's remarkable. Daniel didn't build his character overnight. He faithfully chose integrity day after day, long before his faith was tested publicly. Most of our spiritual formation happens in ordinary moments that no one else notices. We build habits of honesty, kindness, prayer, and obedience long before we're asked to stand firm in a difficult season. When challenges come, we don't suddenly become faithful...we reveal the faithfulness we've been cultivating all along. God isn't just preparing you for today. He's preparing you for moments you can't yet see. Every ordinary act of obedience is building a foundation that will sustain you when life gets difficult.
