Faith Breathes Out

A devotional for Wednesday

James 2:17
"Faith by itself is dead if it doesn't cause you to do any good things."

Breathing in is only half of life. Eventually, what fills us must flow outward. God's love is never meant to stop with us. As we serve, encourage, forgive, give generously, and share the hope we've found in Christ, we're breathing out what God has breathed into us. Sometimes this looks like a conversation over coffee. Sometimes it's a meal shared with a neighbor. Sometimes it's simply showing up for someone who needs encouragement. Our faith becomes visible when it takes shape through love. We don't do good works to earn God's favor...we do them because we've already received it.
