Everything Belongs to God

A devotional for Wednesday

Psalm 24:1
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”

One of the hardest truths to embrace is that nothing we have truly belongs to us. Our money, homes, time, talents, and resources are all gifts entrusted to us by God. The early church understood this deeply. They held their possessions with open hands because they recognized that everything ultimately came from Him. This mindset changes how we live. Instead of asking, “What can I keep?” we begin asking, “How can I steward this well?” When something becomes impossible for us to surrender, it may be revealing a deeper attachment in our hearts. God is not trying to take joy away from us. He is freeing us from being controlled by things that were never meant to define us. Peace grows when we stop clinging to what was never ours to begin with.
