A devotional for Friday

Acts 1:8
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…”

When we hear the word “power,” we often think about control, influence, or strength. But the power of the Holy Spirit looks different than worldly power. It empowers us to love deeply, give generously, serve faithfully, and live courageously in the way of Jesus. The Spirit transforms ordinary people into people who reflect God’s heart. That transformation affects everything: our priorities, our relationships, and the way we respond to the needs around us. The question is not simply whether we believe in Jesus. The question is whether we are allowing the Holy Spirit to continually shape us into His image. Real spiritual power is not about control over others. It is about surrender to God and love for people.
