A devotional for Monday
Psalm 34:1
“I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.”
It’s easy to overlook what we see every day. What once felt beautiful can slowly become normal, and what once stirred gratitude can become expected. The same thing can happen in our relationship with God. His goodness surrounds us, but familiarity can dull our awareness of it. Psalm 34 begins with a decision: “I will praise.” This isn’t based on circumstances. It’s a choice. Praise shifts our attention. It reorients our hearts to see what has been there all along. When we begin to speak God’s goodness, we start to notice it more. Gratitude opens our eyes to what routine has hidden. Even in difficult seasons, there are signs of His faithfulness. Sometimes they’re small - quiet provisions, moments of peace, reminders that we’re not alone. Other times they’re unmistakable. But they’re always present. Choosing to praise isn’t pretending everything is perfect. It’s recognizing that God is still good, even when life isn’t.
Question/Challenge:
What is one thing in your life right now that you may have started taking for granted—and can intentionally thank God for today?
