Don't Let Goliath Win Early

A devotional for Wednesday

"David replied to the Philistine, 'You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven's Armies - the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.'"
1 Samuel 17:45 (NLT)

Goliath's greatest weapon wasn't his sword. Before David ever threw a stone, Goliath tried to convince him that the outcome had already been decided. Our giants do the same thing. Fear says it's hopeless. Anxiety says you can't handle what's coming. Failure says you'll never change. Insecurity says you're not enough. Before the battle even begins, we can surrender simply because we've believed the wrong story. David refused. He didn't deny Goliath's strength; he simply knew Goliath wasn't the strongest One on the battlefield. David measured his giant against his God instead of measuring himself against his giant. That changed everything. Whatever you're facing today may be real and difficult, but it doesn't get to decide the ending before God has finished writing the story.
