A devotional for Friday

"So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword."
1 Samuel 17:50 (NLT)

"For he had no sword." What a strange detail to emphasize after David defeats Goliath. Yet that's exactly the point. David accomplished something he seemingly didn't have the resources to accomplish. His story had a giant-sized gap between what he possessed and what needed to be done. But God. Those two words can change the narrative of a life. I wasn't qualified - but God. I didn't think I could make it through - but God. I didn't have enough - but God. I thought that chapter had ruined the whole story - but God. Our confidence isn't that we're secretly stronger, smarter, or more capable than we think. Our confidence is that God's ability isn't limited by ours. When we place what we have in His hands, He is able to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.
