When We’re Covered in Mud
A devotional for Monday
“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!’”
Luke 15:17
Reflection:
We all have moments where we realize how far we’ve wandered, not just physically or emotionally, but spiritually. Like the prodigal son, sometimes we don’t even see how muddy we’ve become until life slows down and the noise stops. The mud is more than circumstance; it’s the spiritual grime that builds up when we try to do life on our own. The beauty of this story isn’t in how bad the mud was, but in the moment the son came to his senses. God often meets us right there – not after we’ve cleaned up, but in the middle of our mess. The turning point begins when we realize, “I don’t have to stay here.”
Question/Challenge:
Where have you been “feeding the pigs” and settling for less than what God has for you? What step can you take today to start walking home?
