The Father Who Runs
A devotional for Tuesday
“And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.”
Luke 15:20
Reflection:
Many of us grew up thinking repentance meant fear, like we had to get right before God would take us back. But this verse flips that idea on its head. The Father doesn’t wait for us to crawl to the porch; He runs toward us. When we return to God, He doesn’t stand at the window with folded arms. He sprints toward us, muddy clothes and all, and pulls us close before we’ve said a word. That’s grace: love that moves first, mercy that meets us mid-run.
Question/Challenge:
Can you picture God running toward you, not away from you? Spend a few moments today imagining His embrace. Then, thank Him out loud for that kind of love.
