The Father Who Out-Loves the World

Pastor Thomas Crummer   -

A devotional for Tuesday

“While he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son…”
Luke 15:20

Reflection:
The son was prodigal with sin – reckless, wasteful, self-centered. But the Father was prodigal with love – reckless, lavish, and undeserved. His love didn’t wait for an apology; it ran first. We call this the story of the “Prodigal Son,” but Jesus’ real focus is also the Prodigal Father. The one who spends grace like it will never run out. The one who gives before He’s asked. The one who hugs before He’s explained to. The one who shows us what the heart of heaven looks like: unguarded, unrelenting love.

Question/Challenge:
Where could you reflect that same extravagant love this week, especially to someone who hasn’t “earned” it?
