Living as Sent People

Dr. Jeremy Selvidge   -

A devotional for Friday

Scripture:
“In everything do to others as you would have them do to you.”
Matthew 7:12 (NRSV)

Jesus reminds us that faith is not passive. We are not called to wait for the world to change before we act. Instead, we take the initiative in love, kindness, and justice. Being sent people means recognizing that every space we enter becomes a place of ministry. God’s kingdom comes near when His people live intentionally. This requires us to ask a better question than “What do I want?” We begin to ask, “What does God want for this person?” When we live this way, we participate in God’s redemptive work. We steward our relationships, our resources, and our influence with care. Serving others becomes an act of worship. When we bless others, we reflect the heart of the One who first blessed us. This is how the world catches glimpses of God’s kingdom on earth.

Question/Challenge:
How can you intentionally bless someone this week in a way that reflects God’s love?
