Power That Reflects God
A devotional for Tuesday
Scripture: Genesis 1:28 (NLT)
“Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”
Reflection:
God gives humanity power, but it is a particular kind of power. It is not domination for selfish gain, but stewardship rooted in care. God’s authority is always exercised with responsibility, restraint, and love. When humans reflect God’s image well, power looks like service and protection. When sin distorts that image, power becomes control and exploitation. Scripture reminds us that leadership, influence, and responsibility are gifts meant to bless others. How we treat people, resources, and creation reveals what kind of power we believe God has. The question is not whether we have influence, but how we use it. God’s image is most clearly revealed when power is exercised for the good of others. Stewardship is not optional; it is central to who we are.
Question/Challenge:
Where has God given you influence, and how can you reflect His character in the way you use it this week?
