The Image of God in the Least

Dr. Jeremy Selvidge   -

A devotional for Thursday

Scripture: Matthew 25:40 (NLT)
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Reflection:
Jesus makes a startling connection between Himself and those society often overlooks. To care for the vulnerable is to encounter Christ Himself. The image of God is not more present in the powerful than in the powerless. In fact, Scripture often points us toward the margins to see God most clearly. When we serve, protect, and advocate for others, we reflect God’s heart for justice and mercy. Stewardship includes people, not just possessions. How we treat the least among us reveals what we truly believe about God. This is not about guilt. It is about alignment with God’s Kingdom. When we honor others, we honor the God whose image they bear.

Question/Challenge:
Who might God be inviting you to notice, serve, or protect more intentionally right now?
