Recognizing the Image in Yourself
A devotional for Friday
Scripture: Matthew 22:39 (NLT)
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Reflection:
Loving others well begins with understanding who you are. Many of us struggle to see God’s image in ourselves because shame, comparison, or failure speaks louder than truth. Yet Scripture assumes that self-worth grounded in God’s design is foundational to loving others. You are not an accident or an afterthought. You are created with purpose. Recognizing God’s image in yourself is not pride; it is humility rooted in truth. When we deny our own dignity, we often struggle to honor others. God’s transforming work restores our vision, both inward and outward. As we learn to see ourselves through God’s eyes, our capacity to love grows. God delights in His creation, including you.
Question/Challenge:
When you look in the mirror this week, will you ask God to help you see yourself the way He does?
