What Sin Steals

Rev. Kristie Selvidge   -

A devotional for Tuesday

Introduction:
Sin always promises life but delivers loss. Sometimes it tastes good for a moment, but it always pulls us away from the relationship we were created to enjoy with Christ. The enemy wants you to believe sin is harmless or manageable, but the slow erosion of peace, joy, and confidence reveals the truth. When we give the enemy a seat, we end up losing more than we ever intended to give away. God is calling us back to wholeness, back to the table where our cup overflows instead of empties.

Scripture:
“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33

Reflection:
Sin drains our peace, weakens our effectiveness, and dims the joy that should naturally flow from life with Christ. It strains relationships and pushes us into isolation, convincing us that we’re too broken or too far gone. But the truth is, Jesus has already overcome every temptation, every failure, and every consequence. The enemy wants you stuck in shame; Jesus wants you restored to freedom. Don’t let what destroys your soul become what defines you.

Challenge:
Where have you allowed sin to steal something God meant for your flourishing, and what step of repentance do you need to take today?
