Redefining Holiness
A devotional for Wednesday
“This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them!”
Luke 15:2
Reflection:
The religious leaders thought holiness meant staying separate from sinners. But Jesus redefined holiness, not as distance from sin, but as love that reaches into it. The holy doesn’t get defiled when it touches the broken; the broken get healed when they’re touched by the holy. Jesus’ table fellowship scandalized the self-righteous because it revealed God’s heart for restoration. Holiness isn’t about who we avoid; it’s about who we embrace with compassion and truth. True holiness heals, it doesn’t exclude.
Question/Challenge:
Who might God be calling you to sit beside this week even if others might not understand?
