Becoming the Gift

Dr. Jeremy Selvidge   -

A devotional for Friday

Scripture:
“God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
John 3:17 (NLT)

Reflection:
God’s love does not end with being received; it continues by being embodied. The gift of Jesus transforms us not only for our sake, but for the sake of the world. Salvation is not just rescue from sin; it is participation in God’s new creation. When Christ lives in us, we begin to carry His love into our homes, workplaces, and communities. The Kingdom of God is not only a future promise. It is a present reality. To receive God’s love is to be sent with it. Communion reminds us that we are invited to the table not just to consume grace, but to reflect it. God’s love changes how we see people, especially those we might otherwise overlook. The question is no longer just “Will you receive the gift?” but “Will you become the gift?” Love delivered through Christ is now love delivered through us.

Question:
How might God be inviting you this week to become an expression of His love to someone else?
