A Kingdom That Keeps Moving
A devotional for Thursday
Scripture
Matthew 2:23
“So the family went and lived in a town called Nazareth.”
Reflection
Jesus’ early life is marked by movement: Bethlehem, Egypt, Nazareth. There is no palace, no throne room, no permanent address. This tells us that God’s kingdom is not rooted in buildings, borders, or institutions. It moves wherever obedience leads. The kingdom of God shows up in ordinary places, through faithful people, in unexpected ways. Nazareth was not impressive, powerful, or prestigious. And yet, it became home to the King of Kings. This challenges our assumptions about where God chooses to dwell. We often look for God in the grand and dramatic, while He is quietly at work in the overlooked. Following Jesus means being willing to move when He moves. It means trusting that obedience matters more than visibility.
Question / Challenge
Are you willing to follow Jesus into places that don’t bring recognition but do bring faithfulness?
