Lost at Home

Pastor Thomas Crummer   -

A devotional for Tuesday

“All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to.”
Luke 15:29

Reflection:
The older brother never left home, yet his heart was far from the Father. It’s easy to think that proximity equals intimacy – that doing the “right” things means we’re close to God. But Jesus reminds us that spiritual pride can build its own prison. The older brother obeyed rules but missed relationship. He did his duty but never let grace sink deep. The Father goes out to him, too, pleading for him to come inside. Grace doesn’t just chase down rebels; it invites the religious to rest.

Question/Challenge:
Are you working for God or walking with Him? What would it look like to move from duty to delight?
