Learning to See Like the Father
A devotional for Thursday
“‘We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”
Luke 15:32
Reflection:
It’s easy to identify with the younger son who ran away, but sometimes we’re the older brother. We see others being forgiven and celebrated, and we wonder why their return deserves so much attention. The call of Jesus is to see the world as the Father does. Every return home is worth a party. Every restored life deserves celebration. Repentance isn’t just about me seeing my sin; it’s about learning to see others through the eyes of mercy.
Question/Challenge:
Who is someone you’ve struggled to celebrate? Ask God to give you His eyes for that person today and to help you rejoice in their return, not resent it.
