The Hunger Beneath the Hunger

Pastor Thomas Crummer   -

A devotional for Monday

Introduction:
Every human heart carries a hunger it can’t seem to satisfy. We chase it through success, relationships, entertainment, and comfort, but none of it lasts. The truth is, we were made to crave something this world can’t supply. A hunger that points us home.

Reflection:
Isaiah’s invitation isn’t just to eat; it’s to stop striving. To put down the things that leave us empty and come to the table of God’s grace, where everything is free and everything truly satisfies. The first step isn’t earning; it’s admitting our thirst.

Scripture:
“Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink – even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk – it’s all free!”
Isaiah 55:1 (NLT)

Question/Challenge:
What “empty food” have you been trying to fill your soul with lately? Take time today to confess it, lay it down, and say to God, “I’m hungry for You.”
